Thorold Tourism

Welcome to the City of Thorold, we are pleased that you have chosen to explore the City of Thorold's many amenities. Whether that would be cycling on our many trails, learning about the Welland Canal or visiting many of our historical properties, the City of Thorold has a lot to offer.  Our community is rich in pride, history and marine heritage and staff at the Lock 7 Viewing Complex are excited to share our knowledge of local and regional attractions.

While taking in amazing views of the ships traveling through Lock 7 during the operating season, a daily schedule is posted within our complex to ensure you do not miss any of the ships traveling through our City.

In 2013, the City of Thorold received a bronze award for a cycle-friendly community.  With cycle friendly streets, cycle friendly accommodations, easy directional signage and direct access to many regional cycling trails, the City of Thorold has an abundance of amenities to offer the cycling community.

The Port Robinson Ferry, the only ferry service on the Welland Canal, transports pedestrians and cyclists across the Welland Canal at the "half way" mark of the 140 km Greater Niagara Circle Route.

The City of Thorold is rich in our heritage offerings, Heritage Thorold LACAC is committed to the identification and preservation of buildings, structures and lands that are of cultural and/or historical value.  With over 40 designated properties located within our City, be sure to ask for your complimentary copy of "A Walk Through History" which provides mapping and highlights of each property.

Staff await your arrival at Lock 7 View Complex located at 50 Chapel Street South, Thorold.  Enjoy your stay in our community and if there is anything we can do to enhance your travel experience, please advise one of our staff members.
