Key Dates

Nomination Period
A person may be nominated for an office by filing a prescribed nomination paper in the Clerk's Office during regular business hours on any day prior to Nomination Day in the year of the regular election.  Nomination fee is $200 for the office of the Mayor and $100 for the office of Councill and School Board Trustee.
January 2 to September 12, 2014
Preliminary Voters List provided to Candidates September 2, 2014
Nomination Day (last day to be nominated) September 12, 2014 by 2:00 p.m.
Last day to withdraw a Nomination by filing a written notice with the Clerk September 12, 2014 by 2:00 p.m.
Voting Proxy
Appointment of Voting Proxy may be made during regular office hours.  Proxy appointment does not continue after Voting Day.
September 12, 2014 after 2:00 p.m.
Election Signs
Elections Signs may not be erected prior to this date and time.
September 12, 2014 before 2:00 p.m.
Nomination Certification by the Clerk.  Also, Clerk to declare the candidate(s) elected by acclamation. September 15, 2014 by 4:00 p.m.
Clerk shall provide a final Certificate of Maximum Campaign Spending Limits to all certified candidates within 10 days after Nomination Day. September 22, 2014

Voting Day
Voting places will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. with the exception of institutions and retirement homes that have reduced opening hours.

Election Signs
Election Signs must be removed within 48 hours immediately following the day of the election.

Election Campaign period ends December 31, 2014
Notification to the Clerk of Campaign Extension
If a candidate has a deficit and notifies the Clerk in writing on or before December 31st the campaign period is extended for a maximum of 6 months (Subsection 68(1))

Financial Statement Filing Deadline
Date by which a candidate must file a financial statement and auditor's report with Clerk.  If a financial statement is not filed or a request for extension has not been filed, the successful candidate forfeits office and candidates are ineligible to run for office in the next regular election.
