Canada 150 Celebrations

Event Submissions for Canada 150 Celebrations in Thorold

The City of Thorold has established a Canada 150 committee with the purpose of providing recommendations to Council on ways the City of Thorold can honour Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017.  One of the recommendations provided to council was to establish a calendar of community events taking place in Thorold over 2017 that celebrate Canada’s 150!  The Canada 150 Ad Hoc Committee has developed an online form for your activity/event submission.

If you are holding an event/activity in 2017, please consider adding your event to the Canada 150 list. Events will be featured on the City of Thorold website and may be included in other print media throughout 2017.

All activities will be branded with the hashtag: #YoureWelcomeCanada. This tag has been chosen by the committee as significant because Thorold was pivotal in formation of Canada through the Battle of Beaverdams.  This crucial battle limited the Americans from accessing the rest of upper Canada. Additionally, Thorold is also known as one of the friendliest communities in Canada and we are happy to welcome guests from near and far!

Your event can be included by completing the form below. We ask that each listing allows for a basic description with a phone number, a website address and an image. Programming details and pricing should not be included.  Please provide as much notice as possible, ideally weeks or months. Events submitted just a few days beforehand are not likely to be included. Send updates if details (dates, locations, etc.) change. The events should have a broad appeal, though some "quirky" events showcasing Thorold's culture and diversity will be included. Events should somehow reflect Thorold's culture, heritage, community and rhythm of the city.
